Panchkula civic body highlights ₹37 crore in property tax dues


PANCHKULA: The municipal corporation (MC) has identified property tax arrears totaling ₹37.68 crores from 697 properties, each with outstanding dues exceeding ₹2 lakhs. This list includes private and government properties, all of which have received notices to clear long-standing dues.

According to MC records, private properties contribute ₹25.95 crores to the arrears, while government properties account for ₹11.73 crores.

Leading the private defaulters is Hotel North Park in Sector 32, owing nearly ₹2 crores. Other major defaulters include Appworx IT Solutions Pvt Ltd in IT Park, Sector 22 (₹77.11 lakhs), New Bansal Electronics (₹40.04 lakhs), Satyam I Way (₹38.97 lakhs), Hotel Elm Bisaat Cuisine and Culture (₹21.90 lakhs), and MS Rolling Construction Pvt Ltd (₹20.15 lakhs). Notable mentions also include The Bella Vista Hotel and Mall (₹13.81 lakhs), SSIEL Hotels & Infrastructure Pvt Ltd (₹12.14 lakhs), and Shalimar Estates Pvt Ltd (₹11.30 lakhs).

The list further includes commercial establishments like hospitals, educational institutions, and hospitality services including Paras Hospital, Indian Bank premises, Bosch Car Services, Suraj Theatre, Satluj Public School, The Sky World School, Sindhi Sweets, Hotel Golden Tulip, KC Cross Road Hotel, Hanu Overseas Hotel, Bharat Petroleum outlets, and several industrial units in Alipur Industrial Area.

Government entities and public sector bodies account for a significant portion of these arrears, with the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) being the largest defaulter at approximately ₹2.74 crores. UHBVN owes more than ₹35 lakhs.

The public works department (B&R), Sector 1, has pending dues of ₹17.87 lakhs, while the agriculture and farmers’ welfare department at Krishi Bhawan, Sector 21, owes ₹15.10 lakhs. Other significant defaulters include an agriculture department property in Sector 21 (₹11.76 lakhs), the Haryana government printing press in Sector 6 (₹11.41 lakhs), and NIFT in Sector 23 (₹6.05 lakhs).

Other government establishments on the list include HSVP Gymkhana Club, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation, BSNL Telephone Exchange, the central GST department, income tax department, excise and taxation department, and the irrigation department.

Despite offering a 100% interest waiver on property tax arrears until June 30, the civic body managed to recover only ₹5.92 crores. Panchkula has 1,04,631 properties, with 44,002 (42.05%) self-certified.

The MC has extended relief on dues until August 31, offering a 75% interest rebate for property tax dues pending from 2010-11 to 2024-25. Property owners can self-certify through the Property Tax Dues Payment and No Dues Certificate Management Portal.
