THANE: Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Housing Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Sunday that developers are expected to complete housing and redevelopment projects within three years. He emphasized that builders who meet deadlines and maintain quality will receive priority for future government contracts.

Shinde made these remarks while distributing keys to beneficiaries of a redevelopment project in Majiwada, Thane. He expressed a firm stance on addressing delays in redevelopment projects. The state government aims to eliminate administrative bottlenecks to expedite the completion of long-overdue housing projects and promote cluster redevelopment across Maharashtra.

“Homeownership is a matter of dignity and security. Every family deserves a quality home. A home represents more than just four walls; it is a space for love, happiness, and dreams,” Shinde stated, reiterating that fulfilling citizens’ aspirations for homeownership is a top priority for the Maharashtra government.

He explained that the housing department has prioritized completing stalled redevelopment and housing projects since he assumed the role and assured that all procedural obstacles would be cleared for quicker execution.

Highlighting the state government’s redevelopment agenda, Shinde noted that cluster redevelopment projects are gaining momentum across the state, with Thane’s Wagle Estate nearing completion. He reaffirmed the government’s vision to make Mumbai and Thane slum-free through planned redevelopment, promising quality homes for citizens under the program.
