HYDERABAD: On Wednesday, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to develop a robust Global Capability Centres (GCC) policy aimed at encouraging companies to set up operations outside the Hyderabad Core Urban Regional Economy (CURE) area.
As per the announcement, he urged governmental support for new GCCs to be established along highways in Nizamabad, Karimnagar, and Warangal, which are situated between CURE and beyond CURE areas.
The Chief Minister, in collaboration with Minister D. Sridhar Babu, conducted a review meeting concerning various aspects of the IT and Industries departments. This meeting was attended by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, B. Ajith Reddy, Special Secretary to the CM, K. Shashanka, VC & MD of TGIIC, Anudeep Durishetty, Joint Secretary, IT&C, Nikhil Chakravarthi, Director, Commissioner of Industries, among other officials.
The CM proposed identifying several clusters ‘Beyond CURE’ to facilitate the decentralization of GCCs to Tier-2 and Tier-3 locations. He emphasized the potential for underserved areas along the Nizamabad, Karimnagar, and Warangal highways to attract GCCs and Data Centres.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of adhering to net-zero principles while meeting the highest global engineering standards in the development of Bharat Future City (BFC). He also stressed prioritizing the establishment of trunk infrastructure in the various proposed zones.
Consultations will commence with the Government of India to create one of the five regional medical hubs announced in the recent Union Budget within the Health City of BFC. “If necessary, I will escalate this to the Prime Minister,” stated the Telangana CM.
Officials were tasked with accelerating the development of the proposed AI City in BFC, benchmarking against best practices globally in AI infrastructure creation.
The Chief Minister also directed that all efforts in BFC be expedited to ensure the ground-breaking ceremony for various facilities in the industrial corridor takes place soon.
The CM advised officials to facilitate MoUs for skilling and certifying the workforce with all companies receiving land allotments in BFC, addressing their talent requirements.
Regarding the establishment of ‘Invest Telangana’, a dedicated investment promotion agency, he recommended adopting exemplary practices from other states, proposing a governance structure that provides comprehensive solutions for investors.
He proposed designating senior officials from various departments, such as Energy and Finance, as ‘Special Invitees’ to streamline clearances and operations, while retaining officials from IT and Industries as regular appointees.
A society will be established for ‘Invest Telangana’, designed to function dynamically and effectively promote investment in the state. The CM suggested appointing a dedicated escort officer to assist organizations from their arrival in Hyderabad to operational commencement.
Additionally, the CM instructed officials to create a plan for transitioning all government offices in the state to the T-Fibre internet service, moving away from private providers. Officials reported securing orders amounting to Rs 54 crore over the past six months from government offices that have adopted T-Fibre internet.
