NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the need for Gujarat to enhance its services sector and develop infrastructure that supports high-skilled jobs in emerging industries.
Shah stated that while Gujarat boasts a robust foundation in manufacturing, engineering, pharmaceuticals, ports, logistics, green energy, industrial infrastructure, and investments, it’s crucial for the state to boost its competitive edge against cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Gurugram in the services sector.
He highlighted the importance of technology parks and the related infrastructure for Ahmedabad as it aims to attract businesses in sunrise sectors.
According to Shah, sectors such as artificial intelligence, deep technology, robotics, quantum computing, semiconductors, autonomous systems, cybersecurity, defense, and space are pivotal for future economic growth.
These sectors will necessitate a pool of high-skilled talent, supportive infrastructure, and a conducive business environment.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi expressed the state government’s commitment to aggressively attracting global capability centers, revealing that they are formulating policies to facilitate this effort.
Sanghavi noted that Gujarat is keen on attracting investors from markets like Singapore, Dublin, and Dubai, also mentioning the state’s policies concerning semiconductors, artificial intelligence, global capability centers, and manufacturing.
Furthermore, he indicated that the government aims to create over 100,000 high-skilled jobs in the next two years, focusing on artificial intelligence, semiconductors, global capability centers, and advanced manufacturing.
