NAGPUR: In a significant move to rehabilitate families affected by the Mihan project, the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) has allocated developed plots to 116 eligible beneficiary families through a transparent lottery process.
The beneficiaries, opting for the 12.5% developed land scheme, have cleared the necessary development fees. The allotment was conducted through a lottery draw.
Land owned by farmers in Shivangaon was acquired for the Mihan project, leading to several compensation measures, including the provision of 12.5% developed land to affected farmers. This decision, announced by then Chief Minister Ashok Chavan in the State Legislature, followed farmer protests and resulted in a Government Resolution (GR).
MADC addressed this long-standing issue by completing the allotment process transparently. The lottery draw was conducted in the presence of municipal commissioner Dr. Vipin Itankar, who also acts as MADC’s vice-chairman and managing director. The entire process adhered to strict rules and maintained complete transparency.
Officials noted that the resolution of this issue was due to the sensitive, people-centric approach of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with the consistent guidance of Revenue and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
