Pune to Reclaim 15 Plots Over Lease Violations

PUNE: A recent survey of government land leased on a long-term basis in the district uncovered 240 violations across 2,161 parcels. The administration is set to take action to reclaim these lands due to violations, as stated by Pune collector Jitendra Dudi on Tuesday.

“Orders have already been issued to reclaim land from lease holders for 15 parcels,” said Dudi. The identified violations consist of non-renewal of leases, unauthorized changes in land use, occupation beyond approved limits, illegal constructions, sub-letting for profit, and failure to utilize the land within specified time frames.

Officials noted that most violations were found in Pune city and Haveli taluka following inspections conducted last year. “These cases were evaluated over the past year, and after hearings, it was concluded that land would be withdrawn from violators. Serious cases will see immediate reclamation of land,” Dudi explained.

The initiative began following orders issued in September and October of the previous year, leading to a thorough survey that initially identified 355 violations. Notices were sent to all relevant parties, with penalties imposed on 240 cases. The land will subsequently be reclaimed,” he added.

This action follows the recommendations of the Vikas Kharge committee, which were presented during the recent assembly session. The verification process began last year, examining over 2,000 leased parcels across the district.
