NEW DELHI: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has extended the payment deadline for flats at Towering Heights under both the 2025 e-auction and the 2026 first-come-first-served (FCFS) housing schemes to June 30.
This decision, approved by the DDA vice-chairman, reflects the time needed to secure necessary statutory approvals. “The competent authority has approved an extension in the payment schedule outlined in the demand-cum-allotment letters… as securing approvals may take 30 to 45 days following the project’s physical completion,” an official stated.
Representations from allottees requesting more time were also considered. The project is expected to miss its originally scheduled completion date of July 2026, which influenced the decision for the extension.
The DDA announced that payments due before March 31 and those extended to April 30 will now receive further extensions without interest fees. Following this, allottees will be granted a grace period of an additional 30 days, until July 30, 2026, during which a 10% interest will apply to the amounts due. The DDA has made it explicitly clear that no extensions will be granted past July 30.
“All other terms and conditions of the housing schemes and the demand-cum-allotment letters will remain unchanged,” officials added.
The Towering Heights project was launched on October 31, 2025, as the city’s first residential initiative under the transit-oriented development policy. It offered 1,026 premium 2BHK apartments via e-auction, with base prices ranging from Rs 1.8 crore to Rs 3.1 crore. However, interest was lacking, with only about 178 units being auctioned.
Subsequently, the DDA initiated a second phase offering 741 flats on an FCFS basis, along with 393 flats designated for bulk allotment to government institutions in March. To boost sales, the DDA eliminated parking costs from the overall flat prices, thereby lowering their costs.
The East Delhi Hub, spanning 30 hectares, is being developed as a mixed-use urban center that integrates residential, commercial, and civic spaces within a walkable environment. The residential tower will stand 155 meters tall, making it the tallest building in the city. Additionally, construction is in progress for 500 more flats and commercial complexes at the site.
