Over 25 Lakh Bengaluru Properties Added to e-Khata System

BENGALURU: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced on Friday that the state government has successfully integrated over 25 lakh properties into Bengaluru’s e-Khata system.

The e-Khata serves as an electronic property certificate that keeps ownership details in an online database, promoting accuracy, transparency, and comprehensive coverage for property owners.

During a press conference, Shivakumar, who also oversees Bengaluru’s administration, stated that of the 25 lakh properties under this system, more than 7,000 applications have already been processed. Further outreach efforts are being planned to reach those who still need their e-Khata.

“Achieving 25 lakh e-Khatas is a remarkable milestone,” he stated.

The Deputy CM emphasized that each e-Khata will include GPS coordinates, property shapes, measurements, and accompanying photos and documents.

He detailed that the government is merging Aadhaar information, digital documentation, GPS mapping, and property sketches to build a comprehensive database.

“We aim to ensure all records are accurately filled. Officials are requesting the necessary documentation, stamps, and digital files, and we are working to connect every Aadhaar card online,” Shivakumar added.

To enhance accessibility, he announced the establishment of over 50 centers throughout Bengaluru, many located in government schools, where citizens can apply for or correct their e-Khata records.

“These centers will be operational this Saturday for the ‘Khata Mela.’ It embodies ‘Nanna Khata, Nanna Swathu,'” he remarked.

For applicants needing verification, an acknowledgement will be provided, with a return date set for 15 days later when officials will conduct property inspections.

Shivakumar also highlighted initiatives to identify and reclaim properties incorrectly recorded as roads in revenue documents, stating such lands rightfully belong to the government.

“We have legally clarified that all roads noted in revenue documents are now under government ownership,” he affirmed.

The initiative has gained recognition from the Union government, with an award acknowledging it as a model for the nation. “The Government of India has praised our efforts,” he expressed gratitude to the project officials.

The Deputy CM expects approximately 10 lakh more households to benefit from this initiative, assuring that even those who have not downloaded their documents will receive printed copies at no cost at their homes.

“We will ensure that all 25 lakh individuals receive their e-Khata at home free of charge,” Shivakumar stated.

Regarding apartment properties, he announced that all flats with occupancy certificates have been processed, affirming, “All 37,460 flats that applied for e-Khata have been issued occupancy certificates. We have cleared all requests.”
