Gurugram to Penalize Builders Delaying Audit Work

Gurugram: The district administration has issued a warning to builders regarding their obligation to perform repair work as detailed in structural audit reports. This warning was announced by an official on Tuesday.

The discussion arose during a meeting led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ajay Kumar, which included builder representatives and Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs) from 15 societies that are part of the initial phase of the structural audit process.

It was highlighted that although structural audits have been finalized in several societies, the recommended repair and improvement activities have not commenced within the expected timeline, as per an official statement.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed District Town Planner (DTP) (Enforcement) Amit Madholia to take appropriate administrative actions against builders who do not start the repair work within the next 15 days.

“In the societies where work is outstanding, builders must initiate repair work immediately and complete it within the designated timeframe. For those societies with completed structural audits, final reports should be published without delay by the designated agencies,” he stated.

Furthermore, he instructed that in cases where visual inspection and non-destructive test (NDT) reports have been received but work has yet to begin, repair work should commence without delay.

Builders were urged to hasten progress in societies where the pace of work was slow, and empanelled structural auditors were tasked with conducting regular monitoring to ensure adherence to quality and timelines.

During the meeting, some RWA representatives requested permission to initiate their own repair work, a request that was granted, provided they comply with established standards and protocols, as mentioned in the statement.

The Deputy Commissioner reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to ensuring residents’ safety, emphasizing that structural audits are critical for building safety and require collaboration from all involved parties.
