VIJAYAWADA: The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) is set to create a unified layout for returnable plots in the second phase of its land pooling initiative. A decision is anticipated soon, having already been reviewed by officials and submitted to the government for approval.
The government aims to acquire 20,494 acres as part of Amaravati’s expansion through Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) 2.0. During the first phase, layouts were established in various villages, as farmers requested returnable plots in their respective areas, though not necessarily on the same land. This approach resulted in fragmented parcels, complicating the government’s ability to manage large allocations.
Officials indicate that establishing multiple layouts necessitates distinct infrastructure for each, inflating costs. Preliminary proposals suggest allocating land at a single site for four villages in the Pedakurapadu constituency and a different site for three villages in Tadikonda constituency.
Another option being explored is the allocation of land at a single site for all seven villages. The officials have yet to decide whether to create a new layout for the farmers in three villages of Tulluru mandal under the second phase or to allocate plots within the existing framework from the initial phase of LPS.
It’s believed that consolidating lands at a single site would better serve projects requiring significant land, such as an international airport and an integrated sports complex. With farmers advocating for prompt handover of developed plots, a single layout could expedite the completion of works, according to officials.
