PRAYAGRAJ: The Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) has designated around 375 hectares in the Jhunsi and Hetapatti areas for future residential and commercial development.

Civic body officials reported that approximately 250 hectares in Jhunsi, encompassing the villages of Mukundpur, Chakia Hinauta, and Chak Hinauta, have been identified under the Chief Minister’s urban expansion initiative. Over 500 farmers will be impacted as land acquisition is planned.

In Hetapatti, 125 hectares of land across Neemarmee Khurd, Narayanpur, and neighboring areas have also been earmarked for acquisition.

Rishiraj, the vice-chairman of the civic body, conducted site inspections on Thursday and informed local farmers about the compensation plans. “We are accelerating efforts to implement the urban expansion plan. This initiative aims to address the city’s growing need for organized residential and commercial properties,” he stated.

Officials noted that many cultivators have expressed their willingness to cooperate, although some concerns have been raised. Reluctant farmers will be informed about the project’s advantages.

“Farmers who part with their land will receive compensation at four times the current circle rate,” officials stated. The total investment for these housing projects is expected to be around Rs 2,500 crore.

PDA Secretary Ajit Singh and Zonal Officer Suraj Kumar Patel indicated that land acquisition will proceed swiftly with farmers’ collaboration.
