NOIDA: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) took significant action on Monday, reclaiming 25 acres of land valued at Rs 400 crore from illegal housing projects near the upcoming airport.

During the operation, officials demolished an unauthorized colony known as “Green City,” which occupied approximately 12 acres in Dayanatpur village. Additional encroachments spanning about 7 acres were also targeted, where illegal plotting was reported. Moreover, a 60-meter-wide road leading to the airport was cleared as well.

In a concurrent operation, nearly 6 acres of encroachments were removed in Sabota Mustafabad village. The drive involved Additional CEO Rajesh Kumar and OSD Shailendra Singh, supported by police and revenue officials. Authorities confirmed that FIRs will be filed against the illegal developers operating within the designated area.

This action is part of YEIDA’s broader strategy to address the so-called “airport township” scams around Jewar and neighboring districts as the Noida International Airport project advances.

On October 15 of the previous year, YEIDA reclaimed approximately 300 acres worth Rs 1,200 crore in Aligarh, dismantling illegal colonies like The Grand Coloniser and Vrindavan Colony in Tappal, Hamidpur, and Syarol. Furthermore, on September 16, the Authority reclaimed 155 acres valued at around Rs 2,500 crore in Bulandshahr, including demolitions of Aeronest Coloniser, Shri Radha Gauri Enclave, and Rudra Properties.

Following the CEO’s directions, field officers were directed to carry out raids, file FIRs against illegal developers, and compile action-taken reports. Over the past three years, YEIDA has conducted more than 25 major operations, reclaiming land worth around Rs 6,500 crore. The announcement of the airport has triggered a rush for land, leading to a mafia aggressively converting agricultural land into unauthorized plots without proper approvals, attempting to pass them off as legitimate residential areas marketed as “airport townships” to unsuspecting buyers.
