VADODARA: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has issued a stern warning against the dumping of construction waste in the Vishwamitri river and other water bodies. This issue was highlighted during a meeting between civic officials and an expert committee appointed by the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC).

The committee, which comprises activists and experts, frequently collaborates with civic officials and other departments regarding the Vishwamitri project. So far, they have published two reports, including a supplementary one, with another expected soon.

On Monday, the committee raised concerns about illegal waste dumping in the river. VMC Commissioner Arun Mahesh Babu instructed officials to investigate and take decisive action.

In response, the VMC launched a campaign against the disposal of construction debris in the river, asserting that such activities are illegal. The municipal body has facilities in place for the proper removal of construction waste, directing it to two designated sites.

The VMC encourages citizens to report instances of illegal waste dumping and will implement the Environment (Construction and Demolition) Waste Management Rules, 2025, against offenders.
