Uttar Pradesh Receives ₹12,031 Crore for PMAY-Urban 2.0

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government has received financial approval of ₹12,031 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) Mission 2.0, significantly advancing the goal of ‘Housing for All’ by providing pucca homes to the urban poor, according to an official statement released on Saturday.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials to prioritize transparency and construction quality, noted the statement.

As part of the initiative, geo-tagging and photographic recording of each house will become mandatory under PMAY (Urban) to facilitate real-time monitoring throughout the construction process. Additionally, all houses will feature disaster-resilient characteristics to protect against earthquakes, floods, and other emergencies, underscoring safety as a key element of the scheme.

The construction costs will be shared between the Centre and the state government in a 60:40 ratio, with each eligible beneficiary receiving ₹2.5 lakh to construct a permanent (pucca) home.

Launched on September 1, 2024, the PMAY (Urban) Mission 2.0 aims to provide pucca houses for all families by the designated deadline.

Officials at both state and district levels will closely monitor the scheme to ensure timely construction and maintain quality standards. This initiative not only offers social security to the urban poor but also encourages comprehensive urban development across Uttar Pradesh, the statement concluded.
