LUCKNOW | AGRA: On Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation for 325 development projects valued at ₹6,466.37 crore in Agra. He also unveiled plans for a ‘Greater Agra’ township, according to officials.

The chief minister stated that the proposed township is set to be a major urban and economic hub, per an official announcement made in Lucknow.

“Greater Agra is poised to become the second Noida, creating new job opportunities and attracting major companies,” Adityanath noted.

The township will be developed by the Agra Development Authority under the state’s ‘New City Promotion Scheme,’ with an estimated cost of approximately ₹5,142 crore over 449.65 hectares in the Raipur and Rahankalan regions.

The initiative has received RERA approval and aims to offer multi-storey flats, group housing, plots, modern roads, sewerage systems, green spaces, and other amenities for over 10,000 families. The sectors will be named after ten sacred rivers, including Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati.

Adityanath emphasized the government’s goal to transform Agra from a tourism-based city into a modern cultural and economic center, as stated in the official release.

He expressed gratitude for public support and mentioned that the government has completed significant infrastructure projects, including the Agra Metro.

The chief minister assured that the development of Agra airport would be prioritized, with a new civil terminal expected to open by the end of the year. Additionally, the government is concentrating on enhancing Fatehpur Sikri and may move forward with constructing a rubber dam contingent on timely completion of the detailed project report.

Addressing global challenges, Adityanath remarked that while numerous countries face war and inflation, India is advancing swiftly under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

He pointed out that actions like the abrogation of Article 370 have curtailed terrorism and affirmed that the state has taken stringent measures against organized crime, according to the announcement.

The chief minister declared that places like Ayodhya, Mathura, and Sambhal are being revitalized to preserve their cultural heritage and called for unity among people to promote Sanatan values.
