GHAZIABAD: During his visit on Sunday to inaugurate the Namo Bharat corridor, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath evaluated the Harnandipuram township project and urged GDA officials to fast-track the land acquisition process.
A GDA official stated that the initiative is being developed under the CM Urban Expansion New City Promotion Scheme, with Rs 400 crore allocated by the state government.
The chief minister sought updates on the land acquisition progress, and was informed that, following the mutually agreed rate clause, registrations for over 35 hectares of land have been completed, with farmers’ consent obtained for the remaining parcels.
To accelerate township projects under this scheme, the state government has granted the development authority board the rights to modify land use. Currently, about 80% of the land in Harnandipuram is designated for agricultural use, but under the new policy, the GDA will have extensive powers to make changes without seeking state government approval.
The GDA plans to develop the Harnandipuram township in phases. In the first phase, the authority aims to acquire 336 hectares from three villages: Mathurapur, Shamsher, and Nangla Feroze Mohan Nagar.
Regarding the land bank, GDA has successfully registered 35 hectares and received consent from farmers for an additional 85 hectares. Furthermore, land under the Lal Dora scheme will also be integrated. This newly formed land bank is expected to sufficiently support the first phase launch of the township, according to officials.
