NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP-RERA) has successfully recovered ₹1,410 crore from 5,700 recovery certificates to date. Of this, ₹861 crore has been collected in 3,053 cases from August 2023 to July 15, 2025, representing a significant 61% of the total recoveries made thus far.
Recovery momentum continues to rise, as demonstrated by ₹380 crore recovered in 2023 and ₹463 crore in 2024. Between January 1, 2025, and July 15, 2025, ₹251 crore was recovered across 955 certificates, compared to ₹244 crore during the same period in 2024.
Sanjay Bhoosreddy, chairman of UP-RERA, remarked, “This upward trend in recoveries has been facilitated through monthly reviews with the District Magistrates and exerting pressure on defaulting promoters. It is crucial that promoters address the claims of allottees prior to receiving approval for project registration or extensions.”
Additionally, around 1,650 recovery certificates totaling ₹500 crore have been mutually settled between promoters and allottees. UP-RERA has also achieved agreements in 8,500 matters valued at an estimated ₹3,320 crore concerning refunds and housing possession during execution proceedings or through its conciliation forums located in Lucknow and Greater Noida.
In total, claims from 15,850 allottee-complainants, amounting to ₹5,180 crore, have been resolved either through direct recovery, mutual settlement between promoters and allottees, or through conciliation efforts.
