GAUTAM BUDH NAGAR: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the under-construction Noida International Airport in Jewar on Saturday, where he was assured by officials that all outstanding work would be completed by November 15.

The CM evaluated progress on the domestic terminal, the inauguration site, security arrangements, traffic management, and ongoing projects. He also led a meeting with Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) officials, along with senior administrative and police personnel, to discuss these matters in depth.

Describing the Noida International Airport as a testament to Uttar Pradesh’s development, Yogi cautioned officials against any negligence that could impede preparations for its inauguration. He emphasized the importance of beautification, cleanliness, and passenger amenities both within the airport complex and in its surrounding areas. During his review of connectivity and traffic management, he stated that a well-coordinated plan was essential, stressing the urgency for completing connecting roads and Metro lines.

Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, provided the CM with a comprehensive presentation on civil aviation-related developments, security measures, explosives squad preparations, control units, substations, and overall infrastructure. Chief Operating Officer Kiran Jain shared insights regarding permit issuance, passenger security, runway testing, and the deployment of CISF for security tasks. Yogi also assessed the advancement of cargo transport links, the fire station, water treatment facilities, drainage systems, and parking accommodations.

Covering an area of 3,300 acres, the Noida International Airport has thus far seen 6,700 acres secured for the project. It is expected that the remaining 5,100 acres will be acquired within the next three months, as stated by a government representative. The total cost of land acquisition is estimated at around Rs 5,000 crore, while construction expenses will approximate Rs 7,000 crore.

Upon completion, the airport will feature a single runway capable of handling 150 flights daily, with an annual passenger capacity of 12 million. Once passenger numbers surpass 10 million each year, plans for a second runway will commence, ultimately enabling the airport to accommodate up to 70 million passengers annually. Once fully operational, Jewar Airport will comprise five runways over 11,750 acres, with a capacity to manage 300 million passengers each year, positioning it as one of the largest airports globally. Following the launch of the Noida International Airport, Uttar Pradesh will lead India with five international airports.
