NAGPUR: The tendering process for the detailed project report (DPR) for the Nagpur Metro’s Phase 3 has progressed to the evaluation stage, with two firms participating in the bidding, as confirmed by officials.
With the tender now closed, MahaMetro is conducting a technical evaluation of the bids. This critical step will assess the eligibility and capability of the firms involved. “After finishing the technical evaluation, the financial bids will be opened, and the contract will be awarded to the selected agency,” stated a MahaMetro representative.
The DPR is crucial as it will outline the plan for Phase 3, which is set to be the largest expansion of Nagpur Metro thus far, featuring several new corridors, including the Inner Ring Road, Sitabuldi-Koradi, Butibori extension, and the New Nagpur link.
Officials noted that ground-level DPR work is anticipated to start in May after appointing the consultant. This will involve conducting traffic and ridership surveys, origin-destination studies, topographical assessments, and alignment planning, which are essential for defining the project’s scope and framework.
The DPR will also outline critical elements like station placements, segments above and below ground, interchanges, and integration with existing corridors. Once completed, the DPR will be presented to the state and subsequently to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for further approval.
