VISAKHAPATNAM: The Chairman of the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA), Pranav Gopal, and Metropolitan Commissioner KS Viswanathan will be at the VMRDA office on July 16 and 17 (Wednesday and Thursday) to gather public feedback on the master plan.
This marks the conclusion of a month-long consultation process aimed at receiving objections and suggestions from the public and local representatives regarding the master plan spanning the VMRDA’s jurisdiction, which includes the districts of Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, and Vizianagaram.
Although the initial plan was developed during the YSRCP’s tenure, the new government has opted to revise it due to widespread claims that certain modifications favored specific individuals.
“We encourage the public and local representatives to take advantage of this opportunity, as we will be available to listen to their suggestions, objections, and concerns regarding the master plan on Wednesday and Thursday. They can meet us on the third floor of the VMRDA office from 11 am to 5 pm on both days,” stated Pranav and Viswanathan.
The state government has recently established a seven-member technical committee comprising senior officials who will address grievances and technical issues raised during the consultation process ending on July 17.
To enhance civic engagement, the VMRDA initiated public consultations at the constituency level across its jurisdiction about two weeks ago, aiming to collect feedback and complaints. These sessions are designed to raise awareness and invite input on crucial infrastructure proposals outlined in the master plan for 2041, particularly where significant land-use changes and right-of-way adjustments are involved.
