Indore Metro Trial Run

INDORE: A successful trial run for the second phase of the metro rail was conducted in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday, according to an official from the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL).

The metro was tested at a speed of 5-10 km/h over a nearly 5-km stretch between Super Corridor No. 3 and MR-10 stations.

This stretch is part of the 17.50-km priority corridor connecting Gandhi Nagar and Radisson Square stations.

Commercial operations have already begun on a 6-km section between Gandhi Nagar and Super Corridor station No. 3 as part of the first phase.

Before commencing commercial operations for the second phase, approvals from the Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) and the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) are required, and efforts are underway to secure these clearances by the end of October.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of metro operations on May 31, coinciding with the 300th birth anniversary of the Holkar dynasty ruler, Devi Ahilyabai.

Officials have stated that a total of 31.32 km of metro corridor is being developed in Indore at an estimated cost of ₹7,500.80 crore. This project will feature 28 stations in a city with a population exceeding 3.5 million, aiming to provide an efficient, rapid, and eco-friendly public transport solution.
