TN CM Calls for Priority on Patta, Tax, Water Petitions

CHENNAI: On Friday, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin instructed officials to give priority to petitions concerning patta transfers, property tax, drinking water connections, changes to ration card addresses, and grievances from farmers while inspecting an Ungaludan Stalin camp in T Nagar.

During his visit to the grievance redressal camp in Ward 133, Stalin emphasized the need to address requests from individuals with disabilities carefully and ensure timely resolution of petitions under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam. He directed officials to accept applications even from residents arriving after official hours and to ensure they are processed promptly.

In reviewing the camp’s operations, Stalin highlighted that birth certificates were being issued on-site, employment cards were being registered instantly, and assistance for opening bank accounts was readily available. He commended the initiative for consolidating multiple government services at a single location.

At the first camp held in Ward 133, a total of 852 petitions were submitted, with the highest number related to enrollment for the KMUT scheme. Residents praised the initiative for making various government services accessible and for facilitating the swift resolution of grievances.

Later, Stalin inaugurated the Kalaignar centenary building, built at a cost of ₹29 crore at the Highway Research Station campus in Kotturpuram, and formally launched the Tamil Nadu State Highways Authority along with its emblem. The newly established authority, which is modeled on the NHAI, aims to accelerate decision-making and mitigate delays in significant road and bridge projects. It will oversee six-lane and expressway developments, implement projects with public and private participation, and adopt advanced technologies with stringent quality controls to ensure world-class road infrastructure. Officials noted that the authority will work to link state highways seamlessly with local road networks, enhancing road safety and access.
