Jaipur: Tenants in Walled City’s crumbling buildings worry

Representative Image JAIPUR: For several residents of the Walled City, most of them tenants, the monsoon brings not just rain but anxiety. Last year, heavy showers caused the wall of a dilapidated building to collapse, after which Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Heritage (JMC-H) demolished nine unsafe structures in Kishanpole zone and issued notices to over 150 property owners. An internal estimate also identified more than three dozen such buildings in the Hawa Mahal East and West zones.
