No registration of structures on rooftops: Kolkata civic body

KOLKATA: After deciding not to sanction structures on terraces of multi-storeyed residential and commercial buildings and declining mutation of open roofs/rooftops/terraces, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has requested the inspector general of registration and commissioner of stamp revenue to stop registration of deeds for the transfer, conveyance, or sale of rooftops or terraces. Municipal commissioner Dhaval Jain wrote to the IG (Registration) on Tuesday, urging him to ensure that terrace properties are not registered. Lens on commercial buildings in New Town, Kolkata

KOLKATA: With several buildings mushrooming in New Town for commercial use, the New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) has decided to conduct a thorough fire safety audit of all commercial buildings in the township. In the first phase, the authorities plan to scan 191 such commercial buildings.
