SC Denies Halt to Haldwani Evictions, Orders PMAY Check

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court directed Uttarakhand authorities on Tuesday to assist over 27,000 residents near Haldwani Railway Station in applying for housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY). The residents are reportedly occupying railway land, and eviction procedures are in progress. A Bench led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi declined to halt the eviction, noting the potential displacement of numerous families.
