Gurugram Metro Phase-I Delayed by Encroachments Post-Launch

GURUGRAM: Almost a month after a ceremonial ground-breaking for the new metro line, there is minimal activity on-site. The agency responsible for the first phase of the 15.3 km corridor has yet to deploy machinery or workers, leaving progress stalled. The GMRL has designated a 5.2-hectare plot in Sector 33 for a casting yard, where precast pillars and segments for the metro will be manufactured before transportation to construction sites. Union Minister Criticizes Haryana for Gurugram Metro Delay

GURUGRAM: Union minister and Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh criticized the state government on Thursday for delaying the commencement of the new metro line, insisting on the need for accountability and responsibility in the matter. Speaking in Gurgaon, Inderjit pointed out that the foundation stone for the project was laid last year, with ‘bhoomi pujan’ taking place this month. “I hope it doesn’t take another 1.5 years to begin work,” he stated.
