Ranchi: 70,000 property owners yet to pay holding tax

RANCHI: Over 70,000 property owners falling under the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) limits did not pay holding taxes for the 2024-25 financial year (FY), the civic body officials said. Out of the Rs 83 crore holding tax that was to be received by the RMC, Rs 80.64 crore holding tax was paid by the 1.67 crore domestic and business property holders till March 31 this year, the civic body added. Pay your holding tax by June 30, avail up to 10% rebate: Ranchi civic body

RANCHI: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has already raked in 23% of its target revenue for the ongoing fiscal year through holding taxes, with over 54,709 households out of 2.34 lakh registered properties having paid their dues since April this year. “The RMC has collected Rs 22 crore in holding tax payments for the financial year 2025–26, achieving 23% of its annual target of Rs 97 crore,” deputy municipal commissioner Gautam Prasad Sahu said.
