Surat: 151 apartment residents get notices to vacate for lack of BU certificate

SURAT: Residents of three apartment societies were served notices to vacate their properties by the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Tuesday, as the buildings they are living in did not have building use certificates (BUCs). Notices were served to residents of 151 apartments. The multi-storey apartment buildings were not granted BUCs by the SMC due to non-compliance on various grounds, one of which is believed to be height. Representative Image KOLKATA: In the wake of the Ahmedabad tragedy, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) buildings department has alerted the executive engineers in the boroughs to strictly adhere to the building height guidelines sent by Airports Authority of India (AAI). The AAI issues guidelines to KMC regarding building height restrictions around airports to ensure flight safety. These guidelines are based on the AAI’s colour coded zoning maps (CCZM) and dictate permissible building heights within specific zones. Unauthorised high-rise buildings flagged by Kolkata airport authorities

KOLKATA: Unauthorised high-rises, water tanks, mobile towers, and lightning arresters are among multiple obstacles flagged by Kolkata airport authorities as threats to flights moving into and out of the city. “In the latest Obstacle Limitation Surface (OLS) study, which analyses obstacles around an airport that could interfere with flight operations and pose a threat to safety, 377 hazards were identified in the flight path. Of these, 90 obstacles, like light posts, hoardings, and tall trees were removed. HC dismisses Leela Group appeals against AAI eviction proceedings in Mumbai

MUMBAI: The Bombay high court has dismissed appeals filed by the Leela Group against eviction proceedings initiated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) over its Mumbai plots leased out for building a hotel. The court observed that the lease period expired long ago, and eviction was not an issue amenable to arbitration under the lease agreement between AAI and Leela. Justice Somasekhar Sundaresan dismissed the Leela Group’s appeals and imposed costs of Rs 10 lakh to be paid in four weeks to AAI.
