STP Closure: Greater Noida Fines 7 Builders ₹54 Lakh

NOIDA: The Greater Noida Authority has imposed a penalty of ₹54 lakh on seven builders for failing to operate their Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs). Inspections revealed that untreated sewage was being unlawfully discharged into drains.

Prerna Singh, additional CEO of the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), stated that the Authority is committed to ensuring 100% treatment and recycling of sewage generated in Greater Noida. “Following directions from CEO NG Ravi Kumar, STPs are being set up throughout Greater Noida and Greater Noida West. However, some builders have been neglecting their responsibility to treat sewage from their high-rise buildings, opting instead to discharge it directly into drains,” she added.

“It’s mandatory for builders to operate STPs for sewage treatment, and stringent action will be taken against those found discharging untreated sewage,” Singh emphasized.

Builders have been warned that legal action, including FIRs, will be initiated based on mandates from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) if any violations are identified during follow-up inspections.

The following builders have been fined: Rajhans Residency (₹5 lakh), Paramount Emotions (₹5 lakh), Devika Homes (₹10 lakh), Capital Athena (₹5 lakh), Panchsheel Hynish (₹12 lakh), JM Florence in Sector Tech Zone 4 (₹5 lakh), and Panchsheel Greens 2, Sector 16 (₹12 lakh).
