NEW DELHI: Signature Global has entered into a ₹380-crore memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CECO Hirun, an Indo-Italian joint venture, to introduce advanced earthquake-resistant technology in its projects over the next 15 years.

The Delhi-NCR region is situated in seismic zone IV. The advanced earthquake-resistant technology being utilized is Hysteretic Tuned Mass Dampers (HTMDs), which aim to minimize vibrations in high-rise buildings caused by seismic activity and wind, thus enhancing stability and comfort for occupants.

“We plan to implement this technology in 80-100 towers over the next 15 years, particularly in buildings exceeding 150 meters in height,” stated Lalit Aggarwal, co-founder and vice chairman. “We are looking to increase this investment to ₹1,000 crore in the near future.”

Agostino Marioni, chairman of CECO Hirun India, added, “By integrating HTMD technology, we significantly improve earthquake resilience, reducing wind sway and seismic impacts while protecting essential interior systems. We’ve successfully implemented this in both new and existing buildings in Rome.”

Aggarwal urged fellow developers to focus on safety measures, stating, “Currently, many builders are neglecting essential safety mechanisms. It’s crucial to adopt such technologies.”

The company also plans to establish a research wing by March 2026, employing 10 staff members dedicated to integrating advanced global technologies in their projects.
