Registration Opens for LIG & EWS Flats in Ghaziabad


GHAZIABAD: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has launched an online service aimed at facilitating the registration process for low-income group (LIG) and economically weaker section (EWS) housing. Private developers can submit the required details online from December 15 until January 15, 2025.

A GDA official mentioned that a six-member committee has been established to address delays in the construction and allotment of units under these schemes. To date, one developer has successfully registered 1,493 units under both the EWS and PMAY schemes using the online service.

“We anticipate that more developers will come forward to utilize this service. Those who do not comply may risk having their project map approvals revoked. The execution of this scheme is critical, particularly for the economically disadvantaged,” the official noted.

Developers involved in group housing are required to ensure that 10% of their total flats are allocated for the EWS category and another 10% for the LIG category.

Officials are also tasked with drafting a report assessing the flats constructed under these categories and identifying those that remain undelivered. The GDA issues map sanctions only after developers adhere to the EWS and LIG flat requirements within the designated timeframe.

As of 2024, data indicated that from the targeted 4,860 EWS flats expected to be built by integrated township developers, only 1,717 have been completed, with 1,455 of those already allotted. In the LIG category, merely 1,255 out of the 4,860 target flats have been constructed.

Following an eight-year delay, the GDA has begun granting possession of units in its Maduban Bapudham housing schemes under the PMAY initiative. So far, over 300 beneficiaries have received their units, with more set to follow.

The GDA has completed 856 units in the Madhuban Bapudham scheme, 1,200 in Pratap Vihar, 480 in Noor Nagar, and 528 units in Newari, which are all ready for possession.
