MOHALI: In a significant blow to a local developer, the Punjab government has revoked a part of the Change of Land Use (CLU) permission previously granted for an industrial colony in Sector 102, covering the villages of Drari and Dhurali.
The director of town and country planning in Punjab issued the cancellation on Thursday, alleging that the developer submitted forged documentation. The revocation involves 9 kanals and 15 marlas (approximately 1.3 acres) of land, which is now excluded from the project.
The decision has left 200 investors, who have reportedly invested about Rs 250 crore, uncertain about the project’s future.
Complaint reveals forgery
The controversy emerged after local resident Surinder Kaur filed a complaint in April 2022, claiming that her land in Drari village was unlawfully included in the CLU using a fake consent letter and a forged bank NOC. Following a detailed hearing, the government determined that the documentation from the developer was fraudulent and annulled the CLU for her land.
Investors express concerns
One investor lamented, “We invested our money six years ago but have yet to receive possession. There are no sewage or power lines.”
With the cancellation of the CLU, we feel abandoned. We urge the state government to either allow GMADA to take over the project or transfer it to our association.”
