NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two key National Highway projects in Delhi on Sunday, namely the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II).

These developments are part of the government’s strategy to alleviate congestion in the capital, aimed at enhancing connectivity, reducing travel times, and easing traffic flow within Delhi and nearby regions. Such initiatives embody Prime Minister Modi’s vision for world-class infrastructure that promotes better living standards and seamless transportation.

The 10.1 km section of the Dwarka Expressway in Delhi was constructed at an investment of approximately ₹5,360 crore. This section will also facilitate multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi, the DMRC Blue Line and Orange Line, the forthcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka Cluster Bus Depot. The section includes:

Package I: 5.9 km from the Shiv Murti intersection to the Road Under Bridge (RUB) at Dwarka Sector-21.

Package II: 4.2 km from Dwarka Sector-21 RUB to the Delhi-Haryana Border, directly linking to Urban Extension Road-II.

The Haryana segment of the Dwarka Expressway, spanning 19 km, was inaugurated by the Prime Minister in March 2024.

Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the Alipur to Dichaon Kalan stretch of Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and additional links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, developed at a cost of approximately ₹5,580 crore. These new routes will alleviate congestion along Delhi’s Inner and Outer Ring Roads and major junctions like Mukarba Chowk and Dhaula Kuan. The additions will enhance access to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, improve industrial links, reduce urban traffic, and facilitate faster movement of goods across the NCR.

Meanwhile, numerous supporters have gathered to welcome PM Modi at the Mundka-Bakkarwala Village Toll Plaza in Delhi.

Before the inauguration, PM Modi took the time to interact with the construction workers involved in the Dwarka Expressway and Urban Extension Road-II projects.
