Over 900 Jharkhand builders miss quarterly report deadline

RANCHI: The Jharkhand Real Estate Regulatory Authority (JRERA) is set to issue notices to 904 builders statewide for neglecting to submit required quarterly construction and financial progress reports.

Developers involved in residential projects with over eight flats are mandated to register with JRERA and provide detailed quarterly updates on construction status, financial health, and project progress. These disclosures aim to promote transparency and accountability in the real estate industry.

Data from JRERA indicates that by December 2025, 1,711 projects were recorded with the authority throughout Jharkhand. However, over 50% of these projects did not submit their quarterly progress reports for the October–December 2025 period. In light of this widespread non-compliance, the authority has commenced the notification process for the defaulting developers.

Chairman of JRERA, Birendra Bhushan, stated, “We are in the process of sending notices to the defaulting builders. We are also forming a team to verify the submitted reports, and any discrepancies will lead to additional notifications.”

He noted that the authority is strengthening its monitoring measures to ensure strict compliance by developers.

JRERA reported that 193 real estate developers collectively incurred fines totaling Rs 1.75 crore over the past two years for failing to submit the required quarterly progress reports.

Additionally, the authority has enforced financial penalties on the non-compliant developers, with 193 builders collectively paying Rs 1.75 crore in fines to JRERA, and 304 project registrations have been denied due to insufficient documentation to date.

Moreover, only 118 builders have submitted completion certificates to the authority, while 207 have presented their occupancy certificates.
