BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha State Housing Board (OSHB) and the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) have collectively allocated over 1,600 plots and homes under various housing schemes in the capital over the past thirty years.
In response to a question from legislator Manorama Mohanty, state housing and urban development minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra shared this information in the assembly.
The OSHB has allocated 692 plots and houses in two significant schemes. Among these, 460 units under MIG and HIG categories were distributed in the Satyasai Enclave scheme at Mouza Aiginia, while 232 HIG units were granted under the Dharma Vihar scheme at Mouza Jagamara.
The BDA has also made considerable allocations in multiple housing initiatives. In the Pokhariput housing scheme, 67 MIG houses, 72 single HIG houses, and 30 duplex HIG houses were distributed.
“Under the Ananata Housing Scheme Phase-II, the BDA allocated 160 MIG houses, 63 HIG duplex units, and 13 plots. Phase-III included the allotment of 100 MIG houses and 39 LIG houses to various allottees,” the minister stated.
Additionally, in the Lingaraj Vihar joint venture housing scheme at Mouza Bhimpur, BDA allotted 108 houses while Keshari Estate Pvt Ltd contributed 321 houses, making the total for the joint venture 429 units.
Overall, the BDA’s allocations under its schemes exceed 650 units, not counting the joint venture partner’s contributions. Both the BDA and OSHB continue to initiate similar upcoming projects within the city.
Notably, the OSHB is launching another plotting scheme in Jagannath Prasad with 166 plots of varying sizes. Although there is a delay in delivering the developed plots, once completed, many will benefit.
Similarly, the BDA is working on its largest housing project yet, called Ekamra Residency in Subuddhipur, which includes over 700 units. The BDA is also expected to announce a plotting scheme in the city soon.
