One Lakh Houses to be Ready for Beneficiaries by March 31

HYDERABAD: Telangana Housing Minister P Srinivas Reddy announced on Wednesday that over 100,000 houses built under the Indiramma housing scheme will be distributed to beneficiaries by March 31, with an additional 100,000 to be completed by June.

Responding to a query during the Legislative Assembly’s Question Hour, the minister revealed that the first phase saw the approval of 450,000 houses statewide, including 12,000 specifically for the Chenchu community and tribal residents under the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA).

“By March 31, approximately 112,000 Indiramma houses are expected to be completed, with housewarming ceremonies planned. Under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership, another 100,000 houses will be finished by June,” he stated.

The minister also mentioned that the second phase of the Indiramma housing project will be approved in April this year.

Additionally, he confirmed that funds would be allocated for houses that were initiated during the previous BRS government but are still incomplete, pending a Cabinet decision.

He announced that in villages, the Sarpanch will chair the Indiramma Housing Committees, which will review eligible beneficiaries selected by the committee. Proposals will then be sent to the Collector for approval from the district in-charge minister.

Furthermore, the minister indicated that the government will consider allowing MLAs representation in these committees in the future.

Reddy clarified that within the GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) limits, 14-15 locations have already been earmarked for housing development, with plans to allocate houses to the underprivileged in those areas.

This model will also be extended to other major towns in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka stated that the government is prepared to invest ₹22,500 crore in the construction of 450,000 houses across the state, averaging 3,500 houses per constituency.

“It’s incorrect for the opposition to claim that the budget for the Indiramma Housing Scheme has been reduced,” Vikramarka asserted, adding that the Congress government’s mission is to ensure every eligible person can secure a home. Meetings were held constituency-wise, and applications were received transparently,” he concluded.
