PATIALA: Manisha Rana, chief administrator of the Patiala Development Authority (PDA), announced on Thursday that an integrated township project covering 330 acres is being developed in Baran village along Sirhind Road, Patiala. This initiative has been launched under a public-private partnership (PPP) agreement with Omaxe Limited established in 2006.
Rana noted that plots were sold in 2007 and 2009, leading to approximately 500 allottees constructing homes within the township. However, in 2011, the developer received a termination notice due to non-compliance with the agreement’s terms, leaving the issue unresolved for about 13-14 years.
In the interest of the public, the Punjab government has now approved a three-year extension for the developer to complete the remaining development work during a recent council of ministers meeting.
She further explained that this extension comes with specific conditions, including the developer’s return of 60 acres of land to the authority/government. With this new approval, Omaxe will assume all maintenance and development duties in the township, ensuring improved services and amenities for residents.
Rana emphasized that this decision addresses a longstanding issue, greatly benefiting residents through the completion and maintenance of the township in Patiala district.
