NOIDA: Residents of Antriksh Golf View 2 in Noida’s Sector 78 have been facing severe water shortages for the past three months, heavily relying on private tankers to satisfy their daily requirements.
The issue arose from the developer’s inability to secure sufficient water connections from the Noida Authority, causing a supply deficit across the 1,055 flats in the 12 residential towers.
Residents report that while the developer has been sourcing private tankers to fill the supply gap, they have been passing the costs onto homeowners via inflated maintenance bills. Recently, around 400 flat owners received texts from the developer demanding Rs 29,500 each for new water connections, adding further financial strain on families already grappling with basic necessities.
“The builder began handing over possession of flats in 2016 but only acquired water connections for 650 flats. Nearly 445 flats were left disconnected, resulting in low pressure and inconsistent water supply as the sanctioned volume for 650 flats is being shared among all households,” explained resident Ranjan Samantaray.
Another resident, Brajesh Sharma, noted that their reliance on tankers has escalated recently. “Last month, we had 72 lakh liters of water delivered via 306 tankers, costing Rs 5.9 lakh. The builder has billed us for this. We’re left using substandard tanker water and purchasing drinking water separately. There seems to be no oversight from the Noida Authority,” he stated, describing the situation as “pathetic and unsustainable.”
Ramesh Arora, project head of Colorful Estate Pvt Ltd, which oversees the facility, acknowledged the shortage but attributed it to insufficient supply from the Authority. “We currently have connections for 650 units whose owners have paid for them. To address the shortfall, we are arranging tanker water. We will also apply for additional water connections, anticipated to be approved within two weeks, and residents will be charged accordingly,” he said.
Following complaints lodged via the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS), Authority officials inspected the premises and clarified that the sanctioned supply is limited to 650 flats serviced by two 140 mm pipelines. “There is no shortage from our end. The current supply meets the sanctioned capacity. If the developer secures additional connections, we will increase the supply,” assured Ashok Verma, senior manager of the Noida Authority’s water department.
