NOIDA: The Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) has ramped up its disconnection efforts this month to recover outstanding dues from residential societies and businesses in Greater Noida.

Recently, power was cut at Himalaya Pride in Greater Noida West for eight hours—from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM—over unpaid dues amounting to ₹37.3 lakh, including overdue payments dating back to October. Supply was restored after the society’s maintenance team paid the outstanding amount. This is just one of many recent disconnections in the area.

NPCL also disconnected power at Mahagun Mywoods for 6.5 hours on November 21 due to a ₹1.6 crore debt. On November 13, Newtech La Galaxia faced a 48-hour disconnection for ₹7.9 lakh owed. Earlier, on November 11, the sub-registrar office experienced a cutoff due to pending dues of ₹40 lakh. Additional disconnections included Aims Golf Town Developers Society on October 3 for ₹2.29 crore in delinquent payments and commercial units in Amrapali Smart City Golf Homes on September 25 for ₹18 lakh.

According to an NPCL spokesperson, “The power supply to Himalaya Pride in Techzone 4 was disconnected after repeated notices went unheeded. The society has a history of irregular payments, making disconnection necessary.”

Residents expressed their frustration during the outage, with Naresh Nautiyal, a resident, stating that they had to depend on generators for the entire day. “This disruption led to complaints and accusations towards the society’s management concerning financial mismanagement,” he added.

NPCL representatives maintained that while they understand the residents’ plight, it is the responsibility of the builders and management to ensure timely payments. “We restored power once the society settled the dues, but such delays negatively impact our revenue,” said Sarnath Ganguly, Vice President of Operations at NPCL.

In some previous instances, NPCL reinstated power after partial payments, but officials cautioned against allowing chronic delays to persist. “Despite numerous reminders and written commitments, dues remained unresolved, compelling us to proceed with disconnections. The recovery campaign will persist wherever payments are outstanding,” Ganguly added, emphasizing that further actions would be taken in cases where dues remain unpaid.
