Noida & Ghaziabad Stamp Services Paused Nov 8-11 for Migration

NOIDA: Property registrations in Noida and Ghaziabad will be halted for four days next week as the Stamp and Registration Department’s online portal undergoes a significant server migration. The department’s operations will transition from the NIC-operated Meghraj cloud to the National Govt Cloud (NGC) from November 8 to 11, as directed by the inspector general of registration in Uttar Pradesh.

Assistant Inspector General of Registration-II, Brijesh Kumar, stated that this temporary suspension is essential for enhancing efficiency and data security. He noted that the migration aims to bolster system reliability and facilitate quicker, safer online transactions in the future. “We have notified the public, advocates, and document writers to adjust their schedules, as registration activities will be on pause during this period,” he emphasized.

Currently, Gautam Budh Nagar, which encompasses Noida and Greater Noida, manages around 700 property registrations daily, while Ghaziabad processes around 600 to 650 transactions. Each registration generates substantial stamp duty, leading to a potential significant revenue drop for the state treasury. However, the actual revenue loss is expected to span only two days, November 10 and 11, as November 8 and 9 fall on the weekend when sub-registrar offices are closed.

Mahesh Bhati, an advocate and member of the Advocate and Deed Writers Association in Gamma-2, Greater Noida, acknowledged that the impact would still be considerable. “Each registry in Noida or Greater Noida typically amounts to around a crore, with stamp duty between five to six lakhs. A two-day pause could result in crores of revenue loss. Nevertheless, this upgrade is positive as it will enhance transparency. Once data from all states is integrated on the National Govt Cloud, registration records nationwide will be accessible in one centralized location, making processes more streamlined and convenient for all,” he remarked.

Officials have directed all sub-registrar staff to be present in their offices on November 10 and 11 to manage routine work and assist with system testing once it is restored.
