NOIDA: The Noida Authority’s board will convene next week to review its budget and consider approval for several key projects, including a proposed Centre of Excellence at Gautam Buddha University (GBU). Additionally, a mixed land-use property scheme will be up for discussion.

During the meeting, the Authority plans to finalize the numbers, sizes, and rates for the mixed land-use plots.

Last year, the Noida Authority raised allotment rates by 6% across all categories, including residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional, and approved a budget of Rs 8,732 crore. A similar increase in land rates and budget is expected this year.

Discussions will also take place regarding the Centre of Excellence at GBU, focusing on whether it will concentrate on semiconductor or stem cell research. “This will be finalized in the upcoming board meeting,” said Noida CEO Krishna Karunesh.

Officials mentioned that this initiative aims to enhance the research ecosystem at the university and position Noida as a center for advanced scientific development. While the university will oversee the project, funding will be provided by the Authority. GBU, established in 2008, is fully financed by the Noida and Greater Noida authorities.

Semiconductors are essential components used in creating transistors and integrated circuits (microchips), which power various devices such as smartphones, computers, and televisions. They are also crucial in communication systems, automobiles, and industrial machinery.

Meanwhile, YEIDA is developing semiconductor parks in Sector 10 and 28, strategically located near the upcoming Noida International Airport to attract both global and domestic semiconductor firms with world-class infrastructure.

Stem cells are unique human cells capable of evolving into specialized types like muscle, nerve, or blood cells and can self-renew. They play a significant role in medical treatments, including leukemia via bone marrow transplants.
