LUCKNOW: Green Gas Limited (GGL) has confirmed that there are no additional fees for piped natural gas (PNG) connections other than the standard charge of Rs 6,000.
This statement comes after residents of Sushant Golf City, Ansal API brought their concerns to the attention of the district administration.
Residents had claimed that the developer had been charging extra fees—Rs 2,950 since April 2023, and previously up to Rs 8,999—citing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with GGL.
Mohan Lal Sahu, president of the resident welfare association for Sushant Golf City, Ansal API, stated, “These charges were illegal and were rejected by the LDA in February 2024. The developer misled residents by referencing the MoU with GGL.”
According to the RWA, over 400 residents have paid these excess charges, despite the society having nearly 12,000 households.
Following the government’s mandate for mandatory PNG connections last month, the RWA contacted the Lucknow district administration, resulting in the cancellation of these extra charges.
District supply officer Vijay Pratap Singh remarked, “The RWA of Sushant Golf City raised legitimate concerns. The real estate developer had no justification for imposing extra charges beyond the standard fee. We have communicated this to the developer.”
GGL stated that the MoU only secured network availability and did not pertain to additional charges. Praveen Singh, the deputy general manager of marketing at GGL, explained, “An MoU was established with the developer due to the potential for PNG service in Sushant Golf City. Beyond the standard, refundable fee, GGL has not levied any additional charges.”
He added, “GGL is actively expanding its network in Lucknow and ensures that any disruptions caused by the installation of medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) pipelines for the PNG network are promptly restored. Residents of any housing society should only pay the standard fee to GGL for PNG connections.”
