NASHIK: The land records department is set to hold a ‘Bhumi Adalat’ on October 1 at the division level to amicably settle land disputes between complainants and respondents.
Mahesh Ingale, the deputy director of the land records department for Nashik division, stated that issues often revolve around mutation entries or land measurements. “Over 350 cases have been brought to my attention as the appellate authority, where aggrieved parties have challenged earlier decisions. In many instances, the solutions are straightforward, but people remain unaware,” he remarked. Ingale’s team aims to counsel all involved to reach mutually beneficial outcomes.
He noted that personal conflicts can contribute to litigation. “In some situations, complainants are unaware that court proceedings will not alter the outcomes but only lead to wasted time and resources. We will offer guidance on these matters,” Ingale added.
The majority of cases involve farmers, whose land remains tied up in litigation, hindering its development. “No one wants land that is subject to legal disputes. Engaging in litigation incurs financial and temporal costs that can lead to significant losses. The farmers often find themselves at a disadvantage, escalating tensions,” he concluded, expressing hope that many litigants will benefit from the upcoming initiative.
The land records department operates 54 offices across five districts: Ahilyanagar, Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, and Nandurbar.
