MUMBAI: The construction of buildings for the rehabilitation of 252 project-affected persons in the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project is nearing completion, with expectations to finish by the end of March, officials reported.

The PAPs will be provided with compact 300-square-foot apartments featuring modern amenities at Kanjurmarg West. The civic body is currently constructing 906 apartments across seven buildings, covering approximately 10,050 square meters.

Of these, two buildings are in the final stages of construction. The remaining apartments are expected to be completed on schedule for immediate handover to the project-affected persons.

BMC Additional Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has instructed the administration to promptly ensure that amenities and facilities at the project site are in place during an inspection on March 6. Each apartment comes with a living room, a bedroom with an attached toilet, and a kitchen.

Moreover, the project will include additional amenities such as a market, community hall, library, health centre, sewage treatment plant (STP), and more. Bangar inspected the site to evaluate the construction status.

His inspection covered the internal structure of the apartments, water supply quality, toilets, electrical systems, elevators, staircases, fire safety measures, and other critical aspects, and he expressed satisfaction with the overall progress.

Bangar also announced that excavation for underground tunnels under Phase 3 of the GMLR project will begin in June 2026, with preliminary work on the shaft at Amar Nagar set to commence beforehand.
