MOHALI: Punjab’s housing and urban development minister, Hardeep Singh Mundian, has announced a significant step in urban development with the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) set to auction 42 premium sites valued at Rs 5,460 crore through an online platform. The inaugural mega e-auction will take place from January 14 to February 11, 2026.
The minister highlighted that this auction aligns with the Bhagwant Singh Mann government’s goal of stabilizing property prices, ensuring transparency, and fostering investor-friendly policies to attract homebuyers, entrepreneurs, and institutional stakeholders. The sites available include residential plots, shop-cum-offices (SCOs), mixed-use areas, collective housing plots, as well as land designated for hospitals and hotels.
Under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, the state government is committed to fostering balanced and planned growth throughout Punjab. The investor-friendly reforms implemented by the government have generated significant interest in the real estate market and have invigorated urban development initiatives, especially in Mohali.
Mundian noted the positive response to previous e-auctions conducted by development authorities within the housing and urban development department, stating they consistently saw robust participation. “Continuing this momentum, GMADA has planned its first mega auction for 2026, featuring sites in prime urban locations,” he added.
In accordance with resolutions from a recent Cabinet meeting, the reserve prices for properties in this auction have been adjusted to enhance accessibility. “This initiative will assist everyone in realizing their dream of homeownership or launching a business,” Mundian remarked.
The minister emphasized that the selected sites cater to a range of residential, commercial, and institutional needs. All properties are well connected by major roads and are in close proximity to the airport and railway station, increasing their long-term investment viability.
Ensuring transparency, Mundian stated that the auction will occur entirely online, featuring complete openness. Detailed information regarding eligibility, payment timelines, site specifics, and terms is available at the official portal puda.enivida.com. Interested participants can register on the portal to take part. Additionally, GMADA has introduced a dedicated email, invest.gmada@punjab.gov.in, for addressing property-related inquiries. The minister expressed confidence that the mega auction will yield positive outcomes, bolster Punjab’s economic growth, and enable GMADA to establish new standards in urban development.
