PANCHKULA: Haryana’s urban local bodies minister, Vipul Goel, instructed the Panchkula municipal commissioner on Wednesday to promptly address the longstanding issue of allotting 100-yard residential plots to underprivileged families under the Mahatma Gandhi Awas Yojana. He also called for the handover of 24 model houses built in Pinjore under the Adarsh Pradarshan Awas Yojana.

These directives were given after a delegation from the Shivalik Vikas Manch met with him and submitted a memorandum. The president of the Manch, Vijay Bansal, reported that the minister urged the commissioner to resolve the matter swiftly.

Bansal expressed concern, stating, “Despite the passage of 16 years, the government has yet to allot the plots promised under the Mahatma Gandhi Awas Yojana, and the 24 model houses, completed 13 years ago, remain unused and are deteriorating instead of being allocated to needy families.”
