VIJAYAWADA: Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana announced the continuation of the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) to facilitate land acquisition for future capital city projects. In a media briefing on Wednesday, he stated that the action plan for the next phase will be disclosed upon the completion of phase-II, which was initiated two days ago.

During his address, Narayana confirmed that the government has issued orders for pooling 16,666 acres in phase-II, designated for the railway track, railway station, Inner Ring Road (IRR), and a sports city. He mentioned that additional land might be necessary for the proposed international airport and smart industries, potentially leading to a phase-III of LPS. “We’ll need additional land for the proposed international airport and smart industries,” Narayana added.

He emphasized that Amaravati is being developed as a vibrant, eco-friendly capital, with 30% of the city allocated as blue and green zones. Plans include amusement parks, eco-resorts, musical fountains, snow parks, public parks, and various recreational facilities.

Beautification projects will encompass trunk roads, LPS zones, central dividers, and reservoirs. Under the 217 sq km master plan, 30% is dedicated to green development, with landscaping planned for 640 km of trunk roads, 450 km of medians, and 133 km of buffer zones.

Public recreational parks are set to be developed on 190 acres in Shakamuru, 21 acres in Malkapuram, 31 acres in Anantavaram, and a 200-acre biodiversity park in Kuragallu. Smaller parks ranging from 1 to 10 acres will be established across 1,602 acres of LPS areas. Green initiatives will also be undertaken at the Krishnayapalem and Neerukonda reservoirs.

Narayana pointed out that efforts are being made to contact farmers who contributed land under LPS to finalize plot registrations. Out of 69,421 plots allocated to 29,233 farmers, 7,743 plots for 2,168 farmers still await registration. Additionally, 295 Lanka plots owned by 157 farmers are pending registration. Approximately 719 acres of plots are yet to be allocated, with survey works and boundary marking currently in progress.
