KANPUR: The Minister for Higher Education and in charge of Kanpur Nagar district, Yogendra Upadhyaya, announced on Wednesday that since 2017, approximately 252 development projects have been completed in the district, totaling an investment of around ₹1,503.89 crore.
He highlighted that various sectors, including housing, sanitation, healthcare, education, and social security, have seen significant improvements. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, numerous homes have been built, while the Swachh Bharat Mission has enhanced sanitation by constructing millions of toilets.
Discussing infrastructure advancements, the minister remarked that projects like the Kanpur Metro, Ring Road, thermal power developments, and initiatives under the Smart City plan are positioning the district as a modern and organized urban center.
Focusing on the education sector, he noted that since 2017, there has been not only a rise in the number of universities and colleges but also a remarkable enhancement in the quality of education. The integration of technology, such as e-learning platforms, smart classrooms, e-libraries, and tablet distribution, is equipping students with a competitive edge.
Thanks to the government’s ‘Zero Tolerance Policy,’ there has been a substantial decrease in crime rates, including dacoity, robbery, murder, and kidnapping.
He further added that the expansion of the expressway network, airport upgrades, the defense industrial corridor, and improved digital connectivity have transformed the state into a key hub for investment and industrial growth.
Additionally, farmers’ incomes have significantly increased with record payments for sugarcane farmers, and direct financial assistance is being provided to millions of farmers through the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
