MIDC Executive Engineer RG Totla mentioned in the notice that this has resulted in four to five two-wheelers slipping on these roads.
MIDC has mandated that the developers install tyre wash pits at their construction sites and ensure vehicles are cleaned before entering public roads. Additionally, the developers are required to clean the roads nightly to avoid mud accumulation. A notice was also sent to PMRDA, requesting the development authority to monitor and address similar issues in its jurisdiction.
Krunal Taksale, a techie from Hinjewadi, remarked that the constant movement of trucks has led to significant mud accumulation, making the roads slippery and prone to accidents.
Sujay Dhumal, who frequently commutes in the area, noted that despite previous clean-up efforts by the authorities, the continual truck traffic quickly re-muddied the roads near the Megapolis residential complexes.
Gera Developments responded by stating that their projects in the Megapolis area are compliant with the necessary regulations, and they have implemented all recommended measures from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and MIDC, including tyre washing and regular road maintenance. They indicated that no further actions were pending on their part.
VTP Realty mentioned that they had not yet received official communication regarding the issue but would adhere to any guidelines in the event of violations. “At VTP Realty, we diligently follow all construction regulations and processes daily,” the developer stated.
Godrej Properties did not respond to queries from TOI prior to publication.
