Metro extension from Noida Sector 142 to Botanical Garden Approved

NOIDA: The Aqua Line extension from Botanical Garden to Noida Sector 142, featuring eight stations, will increase the city’s operational metro network to over 61.62 km.

On Saturday, the Centre approved the extension of the Aqua Line Metro corridor, with an estimated cost of Rs 2,254.35 crore.

The elevated stretch of 11.56 km is scheduled for completion within four years from the sanction date, as per a statement from the Noida Metro Rail Corporation.

The proposed stations along the corridor will include Botanical Garden, Noida Sector 44, Noida Office, Noida Sector 97, Noida Sector 105, Noida Sector 108, Noida Sector 93, and Panchsheel Balak Inter College.

Officials noted that this corridor will greatly improve connectivity for commuters traveling between Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi, offering better access to IGI Airport, major railway stations, and the upcoming Multi-Modal Transport Hub in Boraki.

The project builds on the prior approval of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) by the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, reinforcing the commitment of both the Centre and the state government to enhance urban mobility and infrastructure aligned with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

This extension aims to facilitate easier commuting between Noida and Greater Noida, promote the use of public transportation, alleviate traffic congestion, and encourage sustainable urban development.

Upon completion, the new stretch will connect seamlessly with the existing 29.707-km Aqua Line corridor from Noida Sector 51 to Depot Station, the recently sanctioned 2.60 km extension to the Boraki Multi-Modal Transport Hub, and the 17.76 km metro network managed by DMRC in Noida.

The elevated section will serve a well-developed and economically active region that includes IT and ITES hubs, institutional establishments, and residential sectors along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, according to the statement.
